Alison goes by small fishing boat to a small village in Lombok in search of the perfect wave. In the village she meets Mile, a nine-year-old girl from the village who lives in a one-room hut on the beach with her five siblings and her fishermen parents. Mila has big dreams of being a dancer and a singer. She introduces Alison to her family, home life, culture, food, and friends. As their friendship grows Alison learns the tragic secret that motivates Mila to reach for her dreams and thus Alison begins to piece together a plan to help make Mila’s dreams come true.
